The City of Thunder Bay Tourism Department held their Familiarization Tour for local and regional Travel Councilors, and Hospitality Staff to learn about what Thunder Bay and surrounding areas has to offer visitors to our area. The tour was coordinated by Lois Nuttall of Lake Superior Visits.
25 front line staff boarded the tour bus at Terry Fox Information Centre at 8:30 and spent the day learning what Thunder Bay and area have to offer. They visited local parks including Marina Park, and stopped at Wildness North Seaplane Base. Then did a walk around of the Waterfront District, stopping for lunch at the Prince Arthur Hotel.
In Fort William they visited the Thunder Bay Museum and the Sports Hall of Fame, before stopping at the Lake Superior Art Gallery where they were welcomed by Jim Hupka, chair of the Fort William Business District BIA.
At the Lake Superior Art Gallery, Jim Hupka talked with them about the Fort William Business District BIA and all the things it had to offer visitors including the Thunder Bay Museum, the Sports Hall of Fame, and many historical buildings.
