 Father Day Fling Sheena Hoops

The merchants of the Fort William neighbourhood would like to invite everyone to come out and participate in a fun day complete with a treasure hunt! Join us in celebrating our 2nd annual Father's Day Fling: Treasure Hunt & BBQ. Starting at 10 am, in the Village Green of Victoriaville Mall, you will be greeted by a volunteer from the Boys & Girls Club. It is there that you can look at all of the fabulous prizes that have been gathered to encourage you to complete the treasure hunt. While in the Village Green, you have the opportunity to purchase a ticket for $5 to enjoy a tasty BBQ complete with hot dogs or hamburgers, chips, potato salad & a beverage. But not only is there a ticket for food, there is also a special draw for a 32" LG LED Smart TV! This prize was generously donated by Easy Home. Tickets are $5 for 1, or $10 for 3! Did I mention one of our prizes was a free night stay at the Towne Place Suites by Marriott with 4 complimentary breakfasts? Or how about the weekend passes to Fort Fest this summer, being held at Old Fort William?

No event would be complete without the face painting team from Our Kids Count!! That's right, come out and get your face made over into a superhero, or a ferocious tiger, maybe some butterflies! The Boys & Girls Club will also have games here for us all to play and challenge our Dads. The winner gets bragging rights! We all know how fun those are. Hula hoops: anyone out there like hula hooping? Well, you're in luck. Sheena "Hoops" will be here with her many hoops for everyone to share and give it a go. Maybe you'll figure out how to twirl two at once.

All proceeds are going in support of the Boys & Girls Club. So, come out, visit the great shops on the treasure hunt; eat and be merry; enjoy the music & games; win a prize and remember we're all here in support of a great charity. The draw for the prizes will be held in the Village Green at the end of the event, at 2 pm. Saturday, June 20 is shaping up to be a great day, and it can only be made better by having you there.

Treasure Hunt and BBQ - June 20, 2015, 10 am to 2 pm - This year's charity is The Boys and Girls Club.

Father's Day Fling: Treasure Hunt & BBQ

The Father's Day Fling: Treasure Hunt & BBQ is an event celebrating families. The merchants of the Fort William neighbourhood work together to  invite all families into the area to share our many hidden gems. Our goal is to not only support a local charity, but also to introduce the people to our shops; show off what we can do for you; show you that we are here and in the end, we hope that everyone coming out has had a lot of fun along the way. We encourage the children and even the adults to have their faces painted, perhaps pick up a hula hoop and join in the fun. We will have games for the families to play, and music will be provided by a professional DJ. There is a BBQ in which tickets are sold for $5 and those proceeds go directly to the Boys & Girls Club.

We invite people to participate in our treasure hunt. Go to each s
tore, get your passport stamped, pick up a free goodie & by the end of the tour, you get to fill out your name and number to win one of many great prizes that are donated. As merchants, we all participate in the donation of a prize, but we also seek out sponsorship and prizes from other businesses. I am so pleased to say that this year, we have secured a free night's stay with complimentary breakfast for 4 at one of Thunder Bay's newest hotels.

 Sheena Hoops

Like most kids, Sheena loved playing with her hula hoop.
At age 25, she signed up for an adult hula hoop class in Ottawa that was about to change her world. In only a few short years, she has become known as "Sheena Hoops" or the "Hula Hoop girl" here in Thunder Bay; performing at various events throughout the city; teaching classes to new hoopers at the Canada Games Complex; volunteering her time and hoops to the kids at the Underground Gym and always bringing extra hoops everywhere she goes for kids to play.
